It is time to end my self-imposed silence of the last 7 days.

As one who has survived and lived on the periphery of the terrorist actions and assassinations by both the Bader-Meinhof gang in Germany and the Red Army Faction in Europe of German Industrialist Hans-Martin Schleyer and Italian Premier Moro;   the 1972 assassinations of the Israeli athletes in Munich by the Black September group ( I drove past the Olympic Village the day prior); and the atrocities of the war in Viet-Nam (1969-1970), I have always felt that our country was much too complacent and was woefully unprepared for any type of terrorist action.
