As of this evening, my online genealogy contains obituaries Abbott thru Carlyle
Many of these came from my mother's obituary collection, so it is a slow process as check each one for any family connections prior to uploading.
Regardless if there is a family connection or not, I will be posting them to the site in hopes that they may benefit other researchers.
Most of these obituaries are in PDF format, so a PDF reader such as Adobe Reader is required.

As some of you know, on June 4th, I fell shoulder first from an elevated platform into a heavy wooden picnic table.
So far, I've had seen 3 doctors and have had 8 x-rays and 1 MRI done on my right shoulder. Initially, it was thought that I may have a torn rotator cup and some tendon and ligament damage. I had an appointment with the orthopedist who told me that the rotator cup was ok, I had some minor ligament damage, but that I had fractured the inside of the shoulder cup where the ball of the shoulder joint meets.
The good news is that no surgery is required, the bad news is that it will take about 3 or 4 months to heal.
I've regained most of the flexibility, but still can't lift anything heavier than about 10 pounds right now and it still aches a lot. I can now shift gears, so at least I can drive again. I move a little more slowly than before, but I keep telling myself that it could have been much worse.

- Moved to a brand-new, fresh, clean, and larger server
- Installed and began configuring the newest version of Joomla 1.5 (this program)
- Installed and began configuring the newest version of PHPBB in order to add Forums and a discussion area to the web-site.
- Added a Genealogy category and some Surname areas to the Forum. Now you have a place to post your family history questions. Let me know if you would like to see more areas added.
- Installed and began configuring version 7 of The Next Generation Software. This new version has some great new features that I am looking forward to using. Now I can perform a batch upload of files. Before the crash, it had taken weeks to upload less than 100 obituaries. With this new feature, I was able to upload 1000 obituaries in less than 2 hours.

The web-site was moved to a new, virus free server and reset yesterday morning.
I had medical and dental appointments yesterday, so wasn't able to start working on the site until after supper. Only then, did I discover that I couldn't connect to the new locaton. After working with it for a few hours to no avail, I finally called tech support. The technician quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem, but by this time it was 11:30 at night.
I started around 7:00am this morning and found that four of the programs I use for the web-site had just released newer versions of their software, so I made the decision to wipe everything clean and start fresh. It has been a good learning experience for me, and I hope you will like the end result.
It is now 11:00pm and I think it has been a long, but productive day. Tomorrow, I'll see how much of the photo albums I was able to salvage.
I've opened up the site, but there is still a lot of work to be done. Thanks for your patience.
